About Kathleen Martin:

Kathleen Martin has a Bachelor's Degree and a Master of Arts Degree, both in Piano Performance, from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, where she was a student of John Simms.  She has work towards a Doctorate (DMA in Piano Performance) from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, where, in addition to piano, she studied orchestral conducting with Professor Giora Bernstein.  While there she organized a chamber orchestra, The Philharmonia Chamber Players, and performed with that ensemble as conductor and pianist in its performance of several chamber works and the Mozart Piano Concerto K. 491, in C Minor.  The performance included a full-length cadenza of her own composition.

Since arriving in New York City, Kathleen has studied piano privately with Seymour Lipkin, Peter Serkin, and Seymour Bernstein, and  concertized extensively. She studied orchestral conducting with Leigh Gibbs-Gore (Director of the New York Opera Repertory Theatre) in New York City.

She has studied organ with Jonathan Hall (in New York City).  She began the study of organ at Briar Cliff College, in her hometown, Sioux City, Iowa, while still in high school.

Kathleen is the music director and organist of a large Roman Catholic Church in Manhattan, where she also sings. She has sung with Operesque Classical Concerts and Aquarius Opera Workshop, and she sings and plays frequently at other churches in Manhattan and the metropolitan area.  She has studied voice extensively, and is currently studying voice with John Myers, of Myers International.

Kathleen is listed in Who's Who in American Music:  Classical (First Edition, New York and London:  R.R. Bowker Company, November, 1983). and International Who's Who in Music (10th Edition, Cambridge, England, International Biographical Centre, 1985).
